Grant & Award Opportunities
Sewer Overflow & Stormwater Reuse Grant
Due: December 22, 2024
The Division of Water Resources (DWR) State Water Infrastructure Grants Program (SWIG) is offering a funding opportunity through the Sewer Overflow and Stormwater Reuse Municipal Grant (OSG). This funding is dedicated to improving stormwater management and increasing green infrastructure within the state.
The DWR is awarding this grant to address the chronic underfunding of stormwater management within America's water infrastructure. While certain communities have successfully implemented stormwater fees to support water quality and management projects, many others lack this financial resource. The funding from OSG seeks to bridge this significant gap in stormwater funding, ensuring that all communities have the support needed to manage stormwater effectively.
2025 Community Forest and Open Space Program
Due: January 13, 2025
The Community Forest Program offers a unique opportunity for communities to acquire and conserve forests that provide public access and recreational opportunities, protect vital water supplies and wildlife habitat, serve as demonstration sites for private forest landowners, and provide economic benefits from timber and non-timber products. The program offers up to $600,000 per project through a competitive application process and requires a 1:1 match. Eligible applicants include Federally Recognized Indian Tribes (including Alaska Native Corporations), local governmental entities, or qualified nonprofit organizations that acquire and manage land for conservation purposes. Individuals are not eligible to receive funds through this program.

Green Infrastructure Funding Microsite
The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) launched a new funding microsite for communities interested in pursuing federal funding and/or technical assistance for nature-based solutions and green infrastructure projects. The interactive database allows users to search and sort the more than 70 types of federal grants that fund nature-based solutions based on factors such as eligible recipients, project purpose, and the match required. It also provides information about the typical application cycles, and contact information for each program.
