Five Nashville mayors and three Tennessee governors from different political parties have appointed him to various leadership roles and advisory committees. As a former state policy executive, he led the planning and implementation of one of the nation’s first state wetlands conservation plans, a state environmental justice plan, and six innovative laws to protect Tennessee’s water resources. He currently chairs the Tennessee Board of Water Quality, Oil and Gas, representing environmental interests.
